So I just got a console the other day that has 0020 but has never been opened and has not had any fixes attempted.

I've fixed quite a few 360s by now, but I am curious as to what some of the more experienced here would do in this case. Whats your plan of action? I don't know if a reflow is necessary just yet and I don't want to reflow it if I don't have to. The 0020 comes on instantly, which is different than other 0020s I've had before. The fans do go though.

So yeah do you guys think I should be inspecting components or is it more likely to be tin whiskers? I'm think its the tin whiskers but I dont know much about those really

i would start with the simples first,try flushing under the chips with some 90%+ isoprophyl alcohol(to remove any dirt or wht ever tht can b under the chip),thn do a low temp oven bake(150*f for 2-6 hours)this will remove any flex,and moister the mobo may have,thn hybrid,or oven reflow thn hybrid,this might help if it is tin whiskers

i normally don't do the bake since it takes so much time. but im a believer now! booted right up after about 2 and a half hours in the oven at 170 F

I just got a comsole that someone tried to fix, X clamp removal, but simple screws.. It went back to a RROD, and the first thing i saw was way too much artic silver, on both the cpu and the gpu. After an hour of cleaning its 99.9% clean..

Question I have is, with this bake, do you have to shield capacitors and such, As you have to with the higher temps?
